Amotekun arrests suspected drug dealer in Ogun
In the state's Yewa North local government area, Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun) agents have detained Obi Emmanuel, a suspect in the illegal drug trade.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, the 35-year-old suspect was captured in front of a pharmacy in Ayetoro.
The arrest came after the State National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) acquired solid intelligence.
According to Sholanke, the suspect hired a commercial driver named Alausa to convey the hard drugs from Abeokuta to Ayetoro.
He further mentioned that the driver of an 18-seater Mazda bus that the NDLEA had detained on the Abeokuta/Ayetoro route on Wednesday admitted to being the owner of the confiscated goods during questioning.
The statement reads, “The arrest came on the heels of credible intelligence received by the Ogun State National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), suggesting that Emmanuel was orchestrating drug deals in the region, and had enlisted the help of a commercial driver, popularly referred to as Alausa, who is currently in NDLEA custody.
“During questioning, the driver revealed that Emmanuel was the owner of the seized items, leading to the swift action of Amotekun operatives after an intelligence was equally received from the State NDLEA, which resulted in Emmanuel’s capture”.
