AON lifts ban on IbomAir female passenger Comfort Emmanson

Ms. Comfort Emmanson, a passenger on Ibom Air, was banned for life by the Airlines Operators of Nigeria (AON), however the ban has been lifted.

According to the indigenous carriers' umbrella organization, the decision was made in response to a petition made by Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

According to AON's spokesperson, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, operators decided to lift the ban after taking into account all relevant factors, such as Emmanson's release from custody, the withdrawal of the complaint and the resulting striking out of the charges, and her display of regret for her actions.

The Federal Government's proposed retreat to retrain airline crew and AVSEC staff on how to deal with boisterous and disruptive passengers was praised by Okonkwo.

As stated in section 85 of the Civil Aviation Act, 2022, and Part 17 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023, the AON spokesman also urged pertinent aviation agencies to start educating the public right away about the risks and repercussions of unruly behavior at airport terminals and aboard aircraft.
