Armed robbery suspect arrested in hotel raid in Edo
In its ongoing operations against the state's criminals, the Edo State Police Command reported on Sunday that it had apprehended a suspect and seized firearms.
In a statement released on Sunday, Moses Yamu, the PPRO of the state police command, said that officers made the arrest based on reliable intelligence.
He added that four cars were found during the inquiry and that a manhunt has been started for the four other individuals who managed to elude capture during the raid.
The statement reads, “In its sustained raids against criminals through credible intelligence, some persons suspected to be armed robbers/kidnappers/cultists were hibernating at Kendrona Hotel, operatives of the Anti Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Unit of the State Criminal Investigations Department raided the location off Country Home Road Benin-City on 13/05/2025.
“During the operation, one Endurance Oviojie (22yrs) was arrested while others later identified as Clinton, Jeff, Mike, and Emmanuel alias Slim Khalifa (surnames yet unknown) escaped by jumping the fence to neighboring compounds.
“The following exhibits were immediately recovered in their possession; one English Beretta pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, one ammunition, 18 live cartridges, five phones of various make, one electronic tablet, charms and illicit drug.
“Further investigations led to the recovery of Four Mercedes-Benz vehicles of different make.
“The arrested suspects have been charged to court for prosecution while the manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang continues.
“CP Monday Agbonika warns all criminals to either relocate from the State or face the music. He assures the good people of the Edo State that the Command would sustain its commitment against crime until everyone feels safe anywhere he/she is.”
