EFCC arrests ex-Kaduna contractor over N30 billion fraud,
Bashir Bello Ibrahim, the CEO of Formal Act Legacy Limited and a former contractor for the Kaduna State Government, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on suspicion of masterminding a huge N30 billion fraud operation.
In a statement, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale claimed that despite Ibrahim's contract with the state government having ended, he was still able to defraud several people.
He said that Ibrahim made fraudulent claims of involvement with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Office, FICCORD, and the United Charity Foundation (UCF) while posing as a consultant for the 23 local government areas in Kaduna State.
According to Oyewale, Ibrahim reportedly told victims about a 2020 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kaduna State Government, which was purportedly intended to promote the state's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and get intervention money from international donor organisations for local projects.
“Though Ibrahim’s contract with the state government has been terminated, the EFCC received no fewer than 251 complaints against him,” the EFCC added.
