Federal government releases N5.12bn pension arrears to 90,689 retirees
90,689 Defined Benefit Scheme pensioners will receive N5.12 billion in pension arrears from the Federal Government through the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate.
This was said in a statement released in Abuja on Monday by Mr. Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD's Head of Corporate Communications.
According to Ajayi, the directorate had completed the money's distribution. According to Ajayi, the 90,689 retirees in the four pension departments reaffirm their commitment to the welfare of pensioners.
8,626 pensioners from the Prisons Pension Department (CIPPD), Nigeria Customs Service, and Nigeria Immigration Service received N276,032 for one month's arrears; 9,681 pensioners from the Police Pension Department received N619,584 for two months' arrears.
12,773 pensioners from the Civil Service Pension Department received N408,736 for one month's arrears, while 59,609 pensioners from the Parastatals Pension Department received N3,814,976 for two months' arrears.
According to him, the payment reinforces the administration's commitment to making sure pensioners receive their rightful benefits in accordance with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
