NAHCON announces cut in Hajj fare
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a significant downward review of the Hajj fare for the 2026 pilgrimage, offering substantial financial relief to prospective Nigerian pilgrims across all operational zones, in accordance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive.
Depending on the pilgrim's departure zone, the updated numbers, which were made public by the body that works under the Presidency, indicate a decrease of up to N792,943.83 from the original 2025 Hajj fee.
Pilgrims in the Southern Zone saw the biggest fare cut, which was N792,943.83. The Southern Zone's cost has been revised from N8,784,085.59 to N7,991,141.76.
The amended fare for pilgrims leaving from the Northern Zone will be N760,915.83, or N7,696,769.76. The Borno and Adamawa Zone, which has the lowest fare in the country, has a new rate of N7,579,020.96, which represents a N748,104.63 savings.
Additionally, the commission declared December 5 to be the deadline for payments.
