Naira drops against dollar at official FX market

On Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) official foreign exchange (FX) window, the Nigerian naira fell in value relative to the US dollar, trading at N1,331.6875.

According to information provided on the CBN's official website, the naira closed at N1,332.9000 per dollar after trading at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) rate of N1,331.6875 per dollar.

Following trading on Monday, the currency, which was trading at an NFEM rate of N1,330.0965 on October 2, 2026, lost at least N1.59.

In comparison to the previous trading rate on Friday, October 2, 2026, the buying and selling rates at the parallel market dropped by N10.

On Monday, October 5, 2026, the Naira-to-dollar exchange rate on the black market was N1,355 and N1,365 per dollar, respectively, according to Aboki FX.
