Police nab four suspected killers, recover guns in Lagos

During an operation in the Ajanmgbadi neighborhood of Ojo Local Government Area, the Lagos State Police Command found weapons and ammunition and detained four suspected cultists.

On June 2, 2026, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer, made the announcement.

The statement claims that after the command got information, the suspects—Emmanuel Nwokolo, also known as Oblo, Ayola Israel, also known as Essy Pawpaw, Ebuka Nnamdi, and Chinedu Okafor—were captured at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi.

Preliminary investigations, according to police, connected the individuals to violent crimes and alleged cult-related activities in Ajanmgbadi and other areas.

The command added that during the inquiry, a video purportedly depicting the murder of unidentified individuals was found on one of the suspects' cell phones.

The accused allegedly acknowledged belonging to the Aiye Confraternity and were connected to other violent occurrences in the area, according to the police.

“During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity and admitted to being responsible for terrorising residents through a series of killings and other violent crimes,” the statement said.

The police also revealed that 13 live rounds, one revolver pistol, and two locally made handguns were found during further searches.

Two locally made handguns, one revolver handgun, and thirteen live rounds that were allegedly utilized in their illegal actions were found during the operatives' additional investigation and searches, the statement continued.

According to the command, investigations are still underway to identify further members of the group and ascertain the full scope of the suspects' purported involvement in illegal operations.

Police further stated that after the investigations were over, the accused will face charges in court.
