Tijani Gwarzo steps down from senatorial race, supports Barau

Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has effectively mediated a settlement between two prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano North, opening the door for unification ahead of the upcoming election season.

The governor made amends with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo during a high-level meeting at the Kano Government House on Tuesday night.

In a statement released on Wednesday morning, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media at Kano Government House, verified the reconciliation.

According to him, Gwarzo announced his withdrawal from the Senate campaign in favor of Senator Barau Jibrin at the conclusion of the meeting.

Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo, former APC national Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations Abubukar Kabir Bichi, and Kano APC Chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa were among those in attendance.

In the senatorial district, where internal conflict had threatened to split the party's support, the development is regarded as a significant step toward strengthening the APC.

By resigning, Gwarzo demonstrated his commitment to the party's overall goals and his willingness to collaborate with Barau in the upcoming election.
