26-year-old Ghanian lawyer collapses, dies while celebrating World Cup win
Sarah Araba Tettey, a 26-year-old lawyer, passed away after allegedly passing out while commemorating Ghana's victory over Panama in the current FIFA World Cup.
The event happened on Wednesday at Standard Hostel, a private hostel in Bomso close to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, according to Ghanaian news source Citi Newsroom.
According to reports, Tettey, a graduate of the university's Faculty of Law, was watching the game with friends when she unexpectedly passed out during the post-match festivities.
She was apparently taken to a hospital, where doctors attempted to resuscitate her, but she was eventually declared dead.
Tettey was practicing with O & A Legal Consult until she was called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year, according to the newspaper.
Friends, coworkers, and previous classmates have expressed their sorrow on social media in response to her passing, which many have described as the loss of a bright young attorney.
Her family had not released an official comment on the circumstances surrounding her death as of the time this news was filed.
According to reports, her remains has been placed in a mortuary while additional preparations are made.
Additionally, neither her family nor medical authorities have formally confirmed the precise cause of death.
