366 Nigerians deported, 974 face removal in Canada
According to official statistics, Canada increased immigration enforcement at its quickest rate in over ten years between January and October 2025, deporting at least 366 Nigerians.
An additional 974 Nigerians are presently marked as "removal in progress," awaiting deportation, according to data from the Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) removals program.
Nigeria ranked ninth out of the top ten nations whose citizens were expelled from Canada during the time under review, according to data latest updated on November 25, 2025.
Nigeria was rated fifth among the nationalities with the greatest number of individuals awaiting deportation.
Nigerian deportations from Canada have fluctuated over time, according to an analysis of historical statistics. The number of Nigerians expelled decreased from 339 in 2019 to 302 in 2020, 242 in 2021, and 199 in 2022.
Nigeria did not rank in the top 10 deported nationalities in 2023 or 2024, but it made a comeback in 2025 with 366 deportations in just ten months. In comparison to the 2019 figure, this represents an increase of almost 8%.
