Following the reported death of Dauda Oyeyemi, also known as "Emir," an associate and assistant of Governor Ademola Adeleke, tensions have been high in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. Oyeyemi was reportedly shot and killed on Sunday by unidentified gunmen amid a dispute over the leadership of a motor park in the state.

According to reports, Oyeyemi has been attempting to unseat Mr. Wakili Nurudeen, also known as Alowonle, as the park's current boss. This development reportedly caused conflict between the two factions.

According to sources, Oyeyemi and other members of his group attended a meeting at Mayfair Motor Park in an attempt to settle the conflict.

But during the discussion, masked gunmen allegedly broke into the building and shot Oyeyemi in the head.

Members of the Alowonle and Emir factions were forced to leave the site due to panic, according to an eyewitness.

The source also stated that while trying to flee the area, a car carrying some Emir gang members was involved in an accident close to the Campus Gate.

Tension allegedly increased at Oyeyemi's base in Osogbo's Asoje neighbourhood after the incident, with his associates reportedly upset about the murder.

The Alowonle group was allegedly blamed for the murder by some of his acquaintances, though as of the time of publication, the claim had not been independently verified.

Olawale Rasheed, a spokesman for Governor Adeleke, acknowledged the tragedy and demanded that the killers be apprehended and prosecuted.
