Amotekun operatives arrest six criminal suspects in Osun
Six individuals were detained on Monday by the Western Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps, Osun Command, for suspected criminal infractions in various parts of the state.
According to a statement made by Mr. Yusuf Abass, the Command spokesperson in Osogbo, some of the offenders were apprehended while committing the crimes, while others were the result of reliable information provided to the corps.
He added that some of the individuals were arrested as a result of coordinated operations in response to many distress calls from state citizens.
“One Monsuru Moshood, 35, was caught in the act of stealing electrical cables in an uncompleted building and confessed that the wires have been sold at N10,000, despite the wires being valued at over N350,000.
“Also, a 21-year-old Oladare Yusuf was also arrested for alleged theft of cocoa from a farm in Apara village.
“The corps arrested one Olamide Olowo, 39, from Okinni, who was accused of making fake mobile money transfers to foodstuff sellers in Osogbo, “the spokesperson said.
According to Abass, while trying to break into a store in the Ita-Olokan neighborhood of Osogbo, Tobi Omoranti, 30, and Hamzat Mukaila, 45, were also taken into custody by corps members.
He commended the officers' diligence and attentiveness for their prompt action and effective arrests.
Abass stated that following the completion of the investigations, the suspects will shortly be arraigned in court.
