Amotekun operatives arrest suspected killers of three farmers in Ondo

The Nation can disclose that the alleged murderers of three local farmers who were killed at Ala in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, have been captured by a joint team of security personnel.

The "overnight operation" that lasted into the early hours of Tuesday resulted in the arrest of the suspects, who were allegedly wearing army camouflage.

The operation was conducted deep within the forest by the joint team, which included members of the Amotekun Corps and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

On Tuesday morning, images of the suspects being hauled into an Amotekun security vehicle started making the rounds on social media.

Authorities have increased patrols throughout the area to deter future attacks and reassure locals of their safety, according to a security source who wished to remain anonymous and confirmed the arrest.

“The suspects are now in custody for further investigation,” the source added.

On Monday, the Southern Nigeria Youth Congress (SNYC) expressed concern over what it called "senseless attacks and killings of local farmers" in Akure North LGA by alleged armed bandits.

The group said in a statement in Akure that bandits terrorizing the axis killed at least three farmers in Ala, in the Igbatoro region of Akure North.
