Anambra teacher awarded N25m at national summit

Anambra State placed second nationally and won the 2026 National Teachers Summit award for South East overall best.

Chekwube Ifentike of Government Technical College, Onitsha, won the nation's first-ever award at the event, which was organized by the President's wife's office in association with the Federal Ministry of Education. Ifentike grinned as he received a N25 million cash award.

The topic of the event, which ends today at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, is "Empowering teachers, strengthening the system: A national agenda for education transformation and sustainability."

Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, responded to the news in a statement on Wednesday, expressing happiness that state governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo's dedication to funding education has continued to produce the intended result.

“This is a demonstration that the commitment of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to the funding of education is yielding the desired dividends.

“The achievements represent the fruits of investments in Anambra State’s education sector. We congratulate the awardee, Chekwube Ifentike, for doing the state proud, while charging other teachers to replicate the gesture,” Chuma-Udeh added.
