On Thursday, the Court of Appeal Abuja Division affirmed the Independent National Electoral Commission's election of Monday Okpebholo as the victor of the Edo State governorship on September 21, 2024.  

The pronouncement was issued by the appellate court in a ruling by Justice Mohammed Danjuma in the appeal that the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate for governor, Asue Ighodalo, had filed with the court.  

In a unanimous ruling, the appellate court's three-member panel rejected Ighodalo's appeal, calling it without merit.  

In the ruling of the Edo State Election appeal Tribunal, which had previously denied the appeal of the two appellants, Justice Danjuma ruled that the PDP and Ighodalo had not proven a miscarriage of justice.
