Army arrest 36-year-old fake major in Lagos
A 36-year-old man named Animashaun Khalid was turned over to the Lagos State Police Command by the Nigerian Army's 9 Brigade in Ikeja for reportedly posing as an army major.
According to PUNCH Metro, the suspect was captured at the Arena Market in Oshodi when soldiers found him in possession of a fake army identity card that had his name and the title of major on it.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police public relations officer, made this announcement on Monday.
According to Hundeyin, the investigation into the case has been sent to Special Squad I in order to track down the origin of the counterfeit ID, find potential collaborators, and ascertain whether the suspect utilized the forged rank to commit more crimes.
“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the case would be charged to court accordingly,” he stated.
CP Olohundare Jimoh, the Commissioner of Police, praised the army for the quick arrest and transfer, emphasizing that cooperation between security forces was still essential in combating crime.
He advised locals to maintain their vigilance and notify security services of any suspicious activity right once.
