Two citizens, including the ward leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rantan community in Kano State's Bebeji Local Government Area, have reportedly been slain by bandits.

The gunmen stormed the neighborhood on Sunday nite and started shooting at locals.

The attack was revealed in a post on X on Monday by journalist Bakatsine, who covers violence and instability in the northwest of Nigeria.

Alhaji Garba Buba, the APC ward chairman in Rantan, was reportedly shot during the assault, according to the report.

According to reports, Sulaiman Zunduma, another resident, was also slain on the spot.

The event happened just hours after Sarkin Noman Jihar Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo Chiromawa, who had been kidnaped in Chiromawa, Garun Malam Local Government Area of the state, was reportedly rescued.

The Kano State Police Command had not yet released an official comment regarding the incident as of the time this article was  filed.
