Bauchi woman poisons husband 40 days after marriage

Aisha Musa, a 19-year-old housewife in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area, was detained by the Bauchi State Police Command on suspicion of trying to kill her husband by poisoning his food.

According to the command, on August 12, 2026, the suspect, who had been married for roughly 40 days, allegedly added poison to her husband's dinner.

Officers from the "C" Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, responded right away after receiving a distress call at approximately 7:40 p.m. from an unidentified woman residing in Bauchi's Wunti Dada neighbourhood, according to Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib.

After being taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, the victim is currently receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

According to Habib, the suspect was taken into custody soon after the incident and is believed to have confessed while being questioned.

He continued by saying that leftovers of the dinner and an empty bottle thot to contain poison were found by investigators and registered as exhibits.

Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, has directed that the matter be sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department for additional examination.
