Body of 29-year-old woman found in Abuja canal
Blessing Moshood, a 29-year-old sociology graduate from Kogi State University, was allegedly killed last Thursday night and her body was disposed of in a canal in Jikwoyi, Abuja.
Abigail Moshood, the deceased's sister, told Abuja Metro yesterday that Blessing left their house at around 8 p.m. that day after making a phone call.
According to Abigail, the family started to worry when Blessing failed to return home the next day and they did not hear from her again.
“We later heard people talking about the body of a woman discovered inside a canal, and someone described the type of hairstyle the deceased had on, which matched my sister’s,” she said.
“My mother started crying, and we also learnt that policemen from the Jikwoyi Police Station had evacuated the corpse, which was found half-naked with only a top on, to a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.”
When Abigail went to the Jikwoyi Police Station later to ask about the event, she was shown pictures of the deceased, confirming that it was her sister.
Margaret, a neighbor, said that the late Blessing was a kind and intelligent individual.
“I learnt she graduated with a Second Class Upper in Sociology, and whenever she spoke, you could hardly fault her English,” she said.
“She was also very friendly in this neighbourhood and will be greatly missed by all of us, especially the children who have been crying since they learnt of her death.”
Abdullahi Musa, a neighbor, urged the police to send crack detectives to the vicinity of Jikwoyi Medical Center in order to capture criminals engaged in phone snatching and related offenses.
