The building that collapsed Monday while under construction in Ibadan's Dugbe neighbourhood has been blocked off by the Oyo State Government.  

When he visited the situation on Monday, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, the state Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, issued the directive.  

"The action was taken to ensure the safety of lives and property," said Akin-Funmilayo.  Sealing off, he continued, would also enable the government to evaluate the situation and produce a sufficient report on the incident's cause.

Some of the building materials utilised to construct the collapsed structure, according to the commissioner, seemed to be of poor quality and subpar.  In order to prevent a repeat, he announced that the collapsed structure would undergo an integrity test.  

According to Akin-Funmilayo, the government's next course of action would be determined by the test's results.
