CAN mourns as former Aso Rock Villa chaplain dies

Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, the founder of All Christians Fellowship Mission and former chaplain of Aso Rock Villa, passed away. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) lamented his demise, calling him "a faithful shepherd" whose passing is a major loss to the Nigerian Church.

One of the most prominent Pentecostal clerics in Nigeria was Rev. Okoye. He held several positions over the years, including Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of CAN, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), FCT Chapter, CAN National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare, and Chaplain to two Federal Republic of Nigeria Presidents.

CAN condoled with Rev. Okoye's widow, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, his children, the entire Okoye family, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship Mission, the PFN, and the larger Christian community, according to a statement released on Thursday by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh.

The association also honored Mrs. Helen Okoye, his late first wife, who supported him in his ministry until her death a few years ago.

“The Church in Nigeria has lost a faithful shepherd, but heaven has welcomed a good and faithful servant,” Archbishop Okoh said.

According to the CAN president, the late cleric spent decades teaching the gospel, developing leaders, and promoting the unity and expansion of the Church. He dedicated his life to serving God and humanity.
