Court remands Lagos driver over alleged abduction, defilement of 14-year-old
Segun Falola, a 34-year-old driver, was placed on remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Center by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court on Tuesday due to allegations that he kidnaped and defiled a 14-year-old girl.
Falola was hauled before the court on allegations that bordered on kidnapping and defilement, but Chief Magistrate C.M. Kushanu refused to accept his plea.
Kushanu mandated that the defendant be placed on remand at the prison until September 30 while the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, provided legal counsel.
Adegoke Ademigbuji, the prosecutor, informed the court that the alleged offences took place in the Alakuko region of Lagos State between April 3 and April 24.
Falola allegedly kidnaped the teenage girl while she was travelling from Alakuko to Agege, according to Ademigbuji.
He further claimed that the defendant sexually attacked the girl after luring her inside a home.
Falola was detained after the victim's phone was traced to Oyo State, where the adolescent was allegedly being held, the prosecution said the court.
Sections 137 and 268 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 are the charges against the defendant, who lives at 1 Adepoju Street, Alakuko, Lagos.
For additional proceedings, the judge postponed the case until September 30.
