DSS nabs three suspected ammunition smugglers in Kaduna

Three suspected gunrunners have been taken into custody by Department of State Services (DSS) agents for allegedly providing weapons and ammunition to bandits in Kaduna State.

According to the agency, the arrests took place during well-planned sting operations in the state's Igabi and Kachia Local Government Areas.

One of the suspects, a 30-year-old man, was caught with two AK-47 rifles, a PKT machine gun, more than 200 rounds of live ammunition, and four empty magazines hidden in maize sacks along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass in Igabi.

Two more were caught trafficking three AK-47 weapons to robbers in a Volkswagen Golf automobile at Doka village in Kachia along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway.

In response, Governor Uba Sani praised the DSS for the successful operation and promised that his administration's peace model would not allow bandits or other criminal elements to hide.

The governor also thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Director-General of the DSS for their ongoing support of Kaduna's security framework through his Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu (SAN).
