Edo to equip 800 youths with digital skills
In order to prepare 800 young people for the challenges of the future, the Edo State Government has finalized plans to train them in digital skills.
This was revealed in Benin on Wednesday during the launch of a six-month Advanced Job Ready Tech Skills Training program run by the Edo State Government in association with Google and DeepTech Ready, according to state Commissioner for Education Dr. Paddy Iyamu.
The commissioner encouraged pupils to seize the chance, claiming that it would improve their technological proficiency and make them globally applicable.
He said, “We are going to be certifying about 800 of our students in tech skills so that we can give them opportunities in the international space.
“We are going to be doing a serious drive in terms of computer-based test centres, putting students together to learn so that they can also compete anywhere in the world.”
According to Iyamu, the state administration is dedicated to equipping young people with the newest digital skills so they can be ready for the future.
He continued by saying that the government was prepared to assist young people who are committed to realizing their goals.
Iyamu revealed that the governor had authorized the state tech hub's redesign for the digital skills push, and that at least 25 computer-based testing facilities will soon be established for this purpose.
