EFCC arrests 25 BUK students over alleged online scam
In a sting operation in Kano, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken 25 suspected online scammers into custody.
This was stated in a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale.
According to Oyewale, the suspects were taken into custody on Monday in front of Bayero University Kano (BUK) New Site in Kano.
He claimed that actionable intelligence on their alleged involvement in cybercrime activities led to their detention.
”All suspects apprehended are confirmed to be undergraduate students of BUK.
”Items recovered during the operation include, mobile phones, laptops, internet routers and one Honda Accord car,” he said.
He claimed that weeks of surveillance connected to their suspected involvement in financial scams, identity theft, and online fraud made the arrest possible.
”The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” he said.
