The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's Benin Zonal Directorate agents have taken no fewer than twenty-eight alleged online scammers into custody.  

In a statement released on Wednesday via its X.com page (previously Twitter), the anti-graft agency said that the suspected online scammers were taken into custody at several Benin City locations on the basis of reliable intelligence.

The post reads, “Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday May 14, 2025 arrested 28 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations in Benin City.

”The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

”The agency said the suspects would be charged to court after due investigation as been conducted.

“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
