Six alleged online scammers have been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in the capital of Akwa State, Uyo.  On Saturday, its official X revealed this news.  

According to the anti-graft agency, after an intelligence-driven operation, two individuals were captured in the Akwa Ibom neighborhood of Ekpri Nsukara, while four others were captured in Ekamba.

The statement reads, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Uyo Zonal Directorate, have  arrested six suspected Internet fraudsters at the Ekamba and Ekpri Nsukara areas of Nwaniba, in Akwa Ibom State.

“Four of the suspects were arrested at Ekamba Nsukara, while the other two were apprehended at Ekpri Nsukara.”

The agency also revealed that throughout the operation, a number of things were found on the suspects.

“The intelligence-driven arrest led to the recovery of the following items: eight mobile phones and two laptops.

“The suspects will be charged to court soon”, the statement added.
