EFCC raids Obasanjo's hotel, nabs internet fraudsters at party

According to reports, members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission invaded the Green Legacy Hotel, which is part of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and detained a few young people who were thought to be online scammers.

According to information obtained by PUNCH online, EFCC agents conducted the operation early on Sunday morning when a pool party was taking place on the library's grounds.

It happened just five days after members of the commission's Ibadan Zonal Directorate raided the K-Hotel in Itori, in the Ewekoro region of the state, and took two locally-made firearms from a suspected online scammer.

According to the anti-graft agency, the suspect was one of 55 people detained during Wednesday's raid.  A video of the Sunday raid at the Obasanjo Library went viral, showing young people running for their lives as gunfire erupted.

According to reports, the agents confiscated "more than 20 luxury cars and other valuable items" and arrested several young people.

According to sources, EFCC agents from the Lagos Directorate conducted the operation.
