Ekiti police arraign three for stealing rice
Three individuals, Ajanaku Lekan, Akingbade Sodiq, and Ajalume Seun, have been charged with stealing by the Ekiti State Police Command and presented before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court.
Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the prosecution officer, claims that the defendants and other people still at large committed the crime in Ilawe-Ekiti on May 27 at around 2:00 pm.
They were charged with stealing N50,000 worth of rice from a man named Oladipo Tope.
Sections 421 and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021, prohibit and punish the alleged acts, Inspector Oriyomi said the court.
Counsel Adunni Olanipekun, who was representing the defendants, requested bail, which Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted in the amount of N20,000 apiece, with one surety contributing an equal amount. After that, the case was postponed for a second hearing until July 17.
