Failed investment scheme leaves two dead, many hospitalised in Ibadan
In Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, a botched investment scam has claimed the lives of more than two persons. The unsuccessful investment plan has resulted in the hospitalization of numerous additional individuals.
These disclosures were made by participants in the "Agape Trade and Agape Thrift" program at a news conference on Wednesday in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Abiodun Ayobami Mustafa, the subscribers' spokesperson, stated that more than 950 persons had contributed to the program started by Mr. Enoch Adeoye.
Mustafa, who pointed out that the program began in Ibadan in January 2024, stated that since last year, subscribers' attempts to receive reimbursement for their donations have failed.
He insisted that because they were not receiving returns on their investments, two people died and several others were admitted to the hospital. He continued by saying that many people had experienced anguish and humiliation as a result of the scheme's founder's inability to pay them as promised.
Mustafa further said that the subscribers had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to intervene. He took advantage of the chance to ask the EFCC to look into the situation appropriately.
