Fire burns down Oyo building, destroys properties

On Thursday, a fire at No. 1, Road 10, Adepoju Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, destroyed property valued at millions of naira.

This was confirmed in a statement in Ibadan, the state capital, by Moroof Akinwande, the chairman of the state fire services and special adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on fire services reform.  He clarified that Prince Ola reported the fire in the house at precisely 11:23 a.m.

“The fire incident was reported at exactly 11:23hrs today (Thursday), December 4, 2025, through telephoning and Prince Ola to the house on fire at the above address.

“The firemen swiftly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident. Upon arrival, it was the first flat of twins, a three-bedroom private residential building engulfed by fire. Our officers quickly swung into action and prevented it from spreading to the second flat.

“The Federal Fire Service Ibadan Command later joined the state Fire Services and the fire was collectively extinguished,” Akinwande stated.

As a result, the chairman urged everyone to be mindful of fire hazards and to constantly unplug any appliances that are not in use.  In order to stop situations before they occur, he emphasized the significance of having firefighting apparatus in the corresponding homes and offices.

“Also report fire incident and give correct address, contact- our emergency lines: 08067439223 and 08054353501 or 615 ( Toll Free),” the chairman urged.
