Fire destroys buildings in Ikeja Computer Village
Early this morning, a one-story business building on Number 3, Osundairo Street, off Medical Road in the state's Ikeja Computer Village neighborhood was completely destroyed by fire, destroying property valued at several million naira.
Witnesses claim that a commercial building housing computer and accessory sellers was involved in the midnight fire.
The Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS, provided first aid treatment to a Lagos State Firefighter officer who suffered minor injuries during the operation, despite the fact that no casualties were reported.
Men from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, responded to the distress call and extinguished the fire to stop it from spreading to neighboring apartments.
An electric surge caused the fire to start. Computer and accessory sales and storage are the building's main uses. The quick spread of the fire was attributed to the large amount of combustible materials.
In the meantime, pertinent authorities have started looking into the incident to determine the cause or causes and to stop it from happening again. The fire completely destroyed the one-story building's top floor.
