Two residential buildings in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, were destroyed by fire, destroying properties and household goods valued at millions of naira. 

On Thursday, a residential building at No. 16, Majekobaje community, Idi Osan, Iwo Expressway, Ibadan, was completely destroyed by fire. 

The incident did not result in any fatalities. The incident was confirmed by Hon. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service.

“We quickly swung into action and ensured the fire did not spread to the nearby buildings and properties.

“No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of firewood not put out properly when used and ignited to the nearby combustible materials”.

Another fire occurred in Ibadan at 32 Oshodi Street, Olorunsogo, beside Scout Camp, Felele. The event took place on Thursday.It was discovered that the fire had affected the residential building's kitchen. Akinwande attested to the event as well.
