Five bodies recovered along Lagos riverbank

In the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, at least five bodies were found along the riverbank in the Oreta section of the Igbogbo community on Wednesday, while another person was brutally murdered in Bayeku on Tuesday.

According to PUNCH Metro's findings on Thursday, the events might be connected to the rise in violence tied to cults in several areas of Lagos.  The police command has been forced to relocate some divisional chiefs because to the increase in cult clash cases in the state.

Residents attested to the horrific killing of a man whose wrist and leg were cut during the Bayeku attack, while five corpses were later discovered in Oreta, despite the incident's still hazy facts.

Our correspondent was informed by a community member, who wished to remain anonymous, that "some people believe that the incident at Bayeku was unrelated to cultism."

“The person who died is not a known cultist. Many in the community think it is connected to land grabbing. They killed the man and severed his hands and legs.”

Police officers were at the Oreta location to evaluate the situation, according to Adeola, another neighbor.

“Some people are saying it was the river that brought the five bodies to the riverbank. We don’t know the details. But five bodies were recovered.

“We don’t believe the water brought them. The cause of death is still unknown,” Adeola said.

Some of the corpses near the riverfront were included in a brief video released by Naija Confra, a channel that exposes cult-related activities.
