Former humanitarian minister Sadiya Farouq wanted by EFCC

Sadiya Umar Farouq, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on charges of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and misappropriation of public funds.

On Saturday, the wanted notice was issued on the anti-graft agency's website.

Farouq, 52, is an indigenous Zamfara State resident whose last known address is EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja, according to the EFCC notification.

The notification, which was signed by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, asked anyone with knowledge regarding her location to get in touch with the commission.

The EFCC notice read, “The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office, Diversion of Public Funds.”

The commission advised anyone with relevant information to get in touch with its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja, or to call 08093322644, send an email to info@efcc.gov.ng, or get in touch with the closest police station.

From 2019 to 2023, Farouq was former President Muhammadu Buhari's Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.
