Ibrahim Idris, the former governor of Kogi State, has been buried in the Gudu Cemetery in Apo, Abuja.

Idris was buried after his remains were returned to Nigeria. He passed away in the UK on Sunday at the age of 77.

Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, previous governors Yahaya Bello and Captain Idris Wada, members of the Idris family, government officials, political colleagues, and other dignitaries attended the funeral.

Idris was the governor of Kogi State from 2003 until January 2012. He was re-elected in March 2008 after the 2007 election was challenged in court.

In January 2012, Captain Idris Wada took his place.

Following his passing on Sunday, Governor Ododo ordered that the national and Kogi State flags be flown at half-mast in all government buildings and other state-designated public institutions for a three-day period of mourning.

Ododo also said that the late governor would be buried in a state cemetery, with the Kogi State Government handling the costs and preparations.
