At the age of 90, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a former governor of the former Gongola State, and a well-known public servant and businessman in Nigeria, passed away. 

According to a statement from his eldest son, Awwal Bamanga Tukur, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government (SSG), Tukur, a well-known political figure from Adamawa State, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

“It is with profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the family announces the passing of our beloved father and patriarch, Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, who returned to his Creator today 12th September 2026,” the statement said.

One of Adamawa's most well-known political personalities and senior statesmen passed away. Awwal, who is currently the SSG in the Adamawa State Government, announced the death on behalf of the family.

Tukur, who was born on September 15, 1935, worked in Nigeria's public service, politics, business, and international economic issues for more than fifty years.
