Former Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal, granted bail
After questioning Aminu Tambuwal about suspected financial malfeasance, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, granted him administrative bail.
Tambuwal, who was also Speaker of the House of Representatives, is charged with embezzling around N189 billion while he was governor.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a top EFCC official stated that Tambuwal was freed after giving investigators the data they needed.
“He has already been granted administrative bail. We’ve extracted what we need from him, and he will soon leave our headquarters after perfecting his bail conditions,” the source stated.
Dele Oyewale, a spokesman for the EFCC, acknowledged the news Wednesday night but refrained from providing any commentary.
On Monday, Tambuwal accepted an invitation from the EFCC and showed up in the commission's Abuja offices at 11:16 a.m.
