Former VP Atiku Abubakar joins ADC
Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, has officially registered as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former PDP presidential candidate made his announcement public yesterday via a post on X. He also shared pictures of himself getting his ADC membership card and a personalized Waziri 01 shirt.
A sizable number of fans, party leaders, and community members flocked to Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, for the quick but symbolic registration ceremony. As ecstatic supporters captured the occasion, Abubakar was seen in the photos displaying his membership form.
It's official. He wrote, "AA," putting an end to months of conjecture about his political future following his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on which he had long been a prominent role.
Days after insiders suggested he would use his birthday trip to Adamawa, which included multiple community interactions, to clinch his new political affiliation, he switched to the ADC.
Atiku added, "Now I have picked my membership card of the ADC," after obtaining the card. The real opposition has now started. To remove the APC from power, we shall cooperate with other opposition leaders and Nigerians.
The Adamawa State ADC Chairman, Hon. Shehu Yohanna, who accompanied Sen. YarAdua in the registration process, stated that the Atikus registration marked the beginning of the statewide registration of party members in all of the state's local governments and wards.
He urged everyone to seize the chance to join the party nationwide, particularly women and young people.
