Godswill Akpabio swears in two elected senators from Edo, Anambra

Two freshly elected senators were sworn in by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday.

They are Emmanuel Nwachukwu Chibuzor, who represents Anambra South on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Barrister Joseph Ikpea, who represents Edo Central under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In recent by-elections held by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill vacancies in their respective districts, both parliamentarians were declared the winners.

Chibuzor filled the vacancy left by the passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, the previous representative of Anambra South, while Kpea succeeded Senator Monday Okpebholo, who is currently the governor of Edo State.

Following the administration of the oath of office and loyalty by acting Senate Clerk Emmanuel Odo, Ikpea and Chibuzor shook hands with Presiding Officer Akpabio and turned in their certificates of return that the INEC had given them.
