Gombe college dismisses registrar, Liberian, two others over unethical behaviour
On Tuesday, the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe's Governing Council authorized the removal of four senior officers due to allegations of misconduct.
Alhaji Umar Bello, the Registrar; Yusuf Aliyu, the College Librarian; Muhammad Malam, the Director of Works and Services; and Ibrahim Shehu, an internal member of the Governing Council who represents the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation, are among those impacted.
The decision was made during the council's seventh meeting, which took place on January 31, 2026, in the National Commission for Colleges of Education's Abuja offices.
Dahiru Gurama, Acting Director of Public Relations and Protocol, signed a press release on Tuesday stating that the dismissals were based on the conclusions of investigating panels and came after previous suspensions.
“The dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the findings and recommendations of a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education, as well as the Governing Council’s Investigative Committee, which indicted the officers on various counts of gross misconduct,” the statement read.
According to the council, the action was done in accordance with its dedication to due process and responsibility in college management.
In order to maintain continuity in the institution's management, the council authorized the appointment of Mallam Haruna N. Ayuba, the most senior Deputy Registrar, as Acting Registrar.
