On Sunday night, terrorists stormed Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, killing at least thirty persons, including eight children.

The Kaduna State Government, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and Usman Bawa, the state's Peoples Democratic Party candidate for governor, condemned the attack, which happened at around 11 p.m. and resulted in several more injuries as well as the destruction of homes and businesses.

According to reports, the attackers stormed Naridon, a border village between Kaduna State and Ganawuri in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, shooting residents randomly and setting buildings on fire.

Dogon Rana, the secretary of the Naridon village chief, verified the assault.

According to him, 30 people—including eight children—had been officially declared dead thus far, while four more had suffered serious injuries and were undergoing medical attention.

“We have confirmed the killing of 30 people, but we are afraid the death toll may rise because some of the injured are in critical condition,” he said.

He said that the neighborhood had been devastated by the attack, with millions of naira worth of property damaged and many families losing loved ones.

“There is someone in this village who lost five children in one night. The only surviving child is critically injured and fighting for his life. This is a tragedy that has thrown the entire community into mourning,” he said.

Rana further mentioned that a number of stores and other structures were damaged, including his own home.
