Gunmen attack residents, shop owners in Lagos

A group of armed men stormed LASU Road in Lagos State's Ojo neighborhood, attacking stores and robbing bystanders of their belongings, sending locals and business owners into a state of terror.

As the situation worsened, commuters and pedestrians fled for safety, and retailers were forced to quit their enterprises due to the disruption of regular activity.

The Iyana School and First Gate parts of the community were reportedly affected by the event, which happened on Friday at around 11 a.m.

The roughly fifteen attackers, according to eyewitnesses, were heavily armed with machetes and firearms, instilling panic as they advanced through the area.

The attackers emerged out of nowhere, leaving people with little time to respond, according to a resident who went by the name Omowunmi.

"We did not know where they emerged from; we just saw them all dressed in black and displaying different weapons, including guns and machetes.

“Some of them also wore nose masks. They started from First Gate down towards Iyana School. They were approaching people randomly while people ran for safety,” she said.
