Samaila Bagudu, the deputy speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, was kidnapped by gunmen in Bagudu Local Government Area, where he was born.  

According to sources, the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately on Friday after storming Bagudu town.  The sources claim that the deputy speaker was kidnapped not long after concluding his prayers and heading home from the mosque.  

Channels Television received confirmation of the kidnapping from Ahmed Idris, the chief press secretary for the Kebbi State Government.  

Attempts to get more information on the incident from the Kebbi State Police Command were unsuccessful.
