IG reveals new police barracks, 300 homes in Kano
The newly built police barracks and lodging facilities at Bompai and Zaria Road in Kano State were officially opened by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun on Wednesday.
This program is part of his administration's efforts to improve living circumstances for police officers and raise the morale of Nigeria Police Force officers, he said in his address.
In keeping with the Force's vision for a more professional, driven, and mission-ready police force, the newly opened facilities include more than 300 contemporary residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, a standard armoury, a transport workshop, POWA shops, worship centres, paved internal roads, and integrated support infrastructure.
Speaking to officers, attendees, and stakeholders, the IGP explained that the project is more than just the revealing of infrastructure; it is the reaffirmation of a doctrine that prioritizes human dignity in national security.
“This is another significant step and effort towards enhancing the welfare of police officers and reinforcing operational capacity,” the IGP said.
Noting that the project shows his administration's intentional focus on balancing welfare with performance and considering infrastructure as a motivator for professional success, he underlined that no officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in shame by night.
The IGP recognized the crucial contribution played by stakeholders and partners in the private sector who shared the vision and completed the project on schedule and to the required standards.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the Nigeria Police's unwavering support, which has made significant reform and real development possible under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
