In a statement released on Wednesday, the diocese acknowledged Achi's passing and described it as "a painful loss to the entire fiocese, the clergy, the church family, and all who were blessed by his faithful ministry, humble spirit, and unwavering devotion to the service of God." His wife and daughter are still in custody, according to the statement.
“We continue to pray for the release of his wife and daughter who are still in the hands of kidnappers,” it added.
The diocese announced the cancellation of its Stand Up for Jesus 2025 event in remembrance of the deceased priest.
