Kaduna govt begins free bus ride for civil servants, students
A free bus service for students and civil personnel throughout the state will start on Monday, July 8, 2025, according to the Kaduna State Government.
The program, which is a component of the Kaduna Subsidized Transport Scheme, is anticipated to run for six months at first.
In a statement released on Saturday, Inuwa Ibrahim, the Director-General of the Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority, revealed this.
Ibrahim claimed that Governor Uba Sani's pledge to lower the cost of transportation for state employees and students is reflected in the interim free service.
This comes after President Bola Tinubu recently inaugurated 100 compressed natural gas buses on June 19, 2025, during his official visit to the state.
Ibrahim claims that in order to maintain safety and order, some of the CNG buses would start operating on specified routes on Monday under stringent regulations.
“Civil servants will be granted access to the buses upon presentation of a valid staff identity card and a matching National Identification Number (NIN) to prevent misuse,” the statement read.
Students from both public and private schools would be permitted to board the buses as long as they are wearing their complete school uniforms, he continued.
In a similar vein, employees of accredited security firms may board the buses if they are properly identified.
