Kano declares holiday for Eid-el-Kabir celebration
The Eid-el-Kabir vacation has been declared by the Kano State Ministry of Education for all public and private elementary and secondary institutions in the state.
Misbahu Yakasai, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Kano State Ministry of Education, made this announcement on Wednesday.
The mandate states that all boarding schools must take a holiday starting on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and reopen on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
In a same vein, day schools will start the Sallah break on Friday, May 22, 2026, and return on Monday, June 1, 2026.
Parents and guardians were advised in the announcement to ensure that their children were picked up on the closing date and returned on time on the resumption date.
“Parents and guardians of students in boarding schools are advised to pick up their children on the approved closing date, Saturday, May 23, 2026 and ensure their timely return on the resumption date,” the statement said.
Dr. Ali Makoda, the Commissioner of Education, wished a calm and happy Eid al-Fitr to all members of the education community, including parents, teachers, and students.
