Abolarin Tomisin, a University of Ibadan 300-level law student who was kidnapped along with others, has been rescued.

Temidayo Adeboye, President of the University of Ibadan Students' Union, and Joshua Shontan, General Secretary, issued a statement on Monday confirming her release.

The statement claims that the declaration came after formal confirmation from the appropriate authorities and officials of the organization in question.

“The University of Ibadan Students’ Union is pleased to inform the university community that our student, Miss Fumilayo, a 300-level student of the Faculty of Law, who was abducted alongside other individuals, has been safely released,” the statement read.

The union claims that while plans are being made to guarantee the student's safe return to the university community, the released individuals are presently going through post-release processes before heading back to their various destinations.

“The released individuals are currently undergoing the necessary post-release procedures and will return to their respective destinations as arrangements are concluded.

“We have been assured that our student will safely return to the university community in due course,” it added.

The administration of the institution, the Scripture Union leadership, security services, and all other parties involved in achieving the release were thanked by the Students' Union.

It stated that their combined efforts were crucial to the result and that the Union was still appreciative of their commitment and assistance.

The Union also expressed gratitude to the campus community for their prayers, tolerance, unity, and steadfast support at this uncertain time, calling it "extremely encouraging."

It conveyed thanks for the safe release and offered prayers for everyone impacted by the situation to fully recover, mend, and be well.
